5-Ingredient Raw Brownie Bombs

Do you want to bake your brownies and eat them, too? Well, you can skip the baking part with these healthy brownies balls that take only 15 minutes to make!

Let's be honest - it's not always easy eating healthy and clean 100% of the time, nor is that realistic. Every once in a while, we need our little treats and cheats to keep us sane. We're human after all...

But is there something that can tilt the favors in our odds and a way to eat something that satisfies that craving without going off the deep end?

The answer is YES.

Using just 5 simple, everyday household ingredients, you can create a magically delicious treat that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike (yeah, you heard me… kids love it!)

So let's talk details.

Personally, I found that using a food processor is easiest, but you can still make it in a blender (a powerful one). The food processor just lets you control it a little better and won't give you trouble once you add the dates and it starts to get sticky.

And it'll be easier to get your walnuts the way that you want them. Not too finely ground, but not big chunks. And yes, you can use other nuts, too (pecans work great!). I just like walnuts because they're packed with healthy, Omega-3 fatty acids (more so than other nuts) and Omega-3s are great for brain-functionality.

Once I have the brownie batter, my cookie scoop makes perfectly portioned balls that makes it easy for me to track the macros in MyFitnessPal because the serving size is more accurate.

Now of course, if you're a traditionalist and want that square shape, you can do that, too!

Just take the batter and pack it in a square pan or Tupperware lined with parchment paper. But no matter what shape you prefer, chocolate craving satisfaction is GUARANTEED.

WARNING!!

The deliciousness of these brownie bombs can be overwhelming so try your best not to be like me and eat the whole batch in a one hour window.. Or go for it haha up to you! :) Just remember that calories are still calories, so if your goal is to lose weight make sure you're still eating mindfully.

But now that I've warned you, we can finally get into what you came here for!

5-Ingredient Raw Brownie Bombs

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup of walnuts (or your nut of choice)

1 tsp of salt

1 cup of pitted dates

1/3 cup of cocoa powder

1 tsp of vanilla

Toasted coconut flakes (optional)

Directions:

  1. Add walnuts and salt to a blender or food processor.* Mix until the walnuts are finely ground/crushed.

  2. Add the dates, vanilla, and cocoa powder to the blender. Mix well until everything is combined. With the blender still running, add a little bit of water at a time to make the mixture sticks together well.

  3. Once mixed well, transfer the mixture into a bowl.

  4. Use a cookie scoop or a tablespoon to portion out the mixture and then, using your hands, form small round balls by rolling in your palm.

  5. Once formed into balls, coat it in the coconut*

  6. They can be enjoyed straight away, but I recommend storing them in an airtight container and putting them in the freezer for 20-25 minutes before eating. They can also last in the refrigerator for up to a week.

*For me, the food processor has been easier and more effective for making these

*Coconut can be swapped out for flaxseed, chia seeds, or anything else your heart desires!
